Tour Overview:
The classic 12-day small group tour of Thailand and Cambodia, this trip gives you a unique insight into two of the most ancient civilizations in Southeast Asia, the former Siam and the land of the ancient Khmer Empire.
Your will start in Bangkok, and take in the Wat Pho Temple, then visit the Royal Palace and cruise the Chao Phraya River. Then head north to Chiang Rai to discover the Golden Triangle and take in the unique experience of visiting two of the ancient hill tribes. After touring around Chiang Mai, you will fly to Siem Reap, the gateway to Angkor, and visit the of Angkor Wat, the center of the Angkor Temple Complex that was once the capital of the ancient Khmer Empire. After visiting beautiful Tonle Sap Lake, you will head south to the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh, and take in the beautiful sights of the city.

Welcome to Bangkok Thailand. Upon arrival , your private local guide from IndochinaTour.com will welcome you at the airport then escorts you to your hotel in Bangkok City. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure to relax, you can have a relaxing walk around the hotel to discover the city.

Day 2 Bangkok – Emerald Buddha and Klong Cruise

This morning , visit the Grand Palace, a beautiful example of an ancient Siamese court, and Wat Phra Kaew, home to the revered Emerald Buddha statue. Then, ride like a Local by tuk-tuk to Wat Pho temple, to behold the 150-foot-long Reclining Buddha statue. Next, explore the city’s renowned klongs(canals) by boat and cruise the Chao Phraya River. Also visit Wat Arun and the Royal Barge Museum.

Day 3 Damnoen Saduak Floating Market |Kanchanabury and WWII |Flight to Chiang Rai

This morning visit Damnoen Saduak Floating Market where you will experience the traditional Thai market with numerous vendors selling local foods, fruits and products from their boats. Explore the market before continuing on to Kanchanburi to learn about the region's storied past and present-day culture. Made famous by the book and movie The Bridge on the River Kwai, the infamous bridge and railway is a notable part of the Kanchanaburi landscape. Take some time to just relax here, before making your way back to Bangkokairport for your onward flight to Chiang Rai.

Day 4 Doi Mae Salong - Discover Golden triangle

The golden triangle is a mysterious region for most of Indochina tour makes, today you will enjoy a full day excursion to the heart of golden triangle region.
Your fascinating day will start from morning by firstly visit the Long Neck Karen village to see the long neck hill tribe people who relocated from the Thai and Myanmar border. If it is possible, you will also able to visit a Cock Fighting near the hill tribe village. Keep driving to Mt. Doi Mae Salong and visit the Chinese village on the top of the mountain. Lunch will be at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, continue the trip to the highest peak on the Thai-Myanmar border. Doi Tung, provides an opportunity to view enrooted many different Lahu and Akha village as well as terraced farming areas and see from distance the Princess Mother's frigid flower Garden. Doi Tung temple, built in A.D.1493, is located at the peak. Its scenery reminds one of Switzerland, features many unique images and temple architecture over looking the entire northern rice field plain. Return to the hotel and rest of the day free at leisure.

Day 5 Chiang Rai | Chiang Mai

After breakfast, visit the White Temple, is an unusual Thai temple designed by artist Chalermchai Kositpipat, who mixes traditional Buddhist temple architecture with pop culture references. Keep driving to Chiang Mai, visit the Meow Hill Tribe Village where locates on the Mountain Doi Pui and it was once famous for opium cultivation. Continue to visit the Temple Wat Doi Suthep where you will enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the Chiang Mai City. If you like, here is also one of the best places to enjoy sunset.

Day 6 Elephant Nature Park – Half Day Morning Visit

Enjoy a half-day morning visit to Elephant Nature Park; a rescue and rehabilitation centre for elephants, as well as many other rescued animalsYour visit starts with a picturesque drive through rural countryside to Elephant Nature Park. On the way you will learn about the rescued and orphaned elephants and their individual stories. At the park you will have the opportunity to spend time with the various herds. Many of these elephants have left behind a traumatic past and for the first time are able to form relationships with other elephants and rediscover their elephant nature. Guests will have the chance to observe elephants as well as other rescued animals living free of fear amongst the natural surroundings of the sanctuary. There is no riding or bathing the elephants at ENP. Your visit helps to support our regional projects and allows us to provide ongoing care for our herd aswell as make future rescues possible.

Day 7 Tour of Chiang Mai

In the morning, start your cultural tour of Chiang Mai. First stop at Kad Ton Payom Market, renowned for its fresh fruits and flowers, aromatic spices and northern Thai cuisine. You can participate in the local tradition of almsgiving — offering food to Buddhist monks. Continue to the Buddhist temple of Wat Umong, nestled in the forested foothills of Suthep Mountain. Learn about the Buddhist proverbs posted throughout the grounds in English and Thai before you head inside to see the impressive Buddha statue. You’ll also visit the 14th-century Wat Suan Dok, a white bell-shaped temple housing a 20-foot (6-meter) Buddha. See the large prayer hall and the unique open-sided chapel, then enjoy an opportunity to chat with a monk about Buddhism and temple life.

Day 8 Flight to Siem Reap via Bangkok

Breakfast is at hotel. We depart hotel at 8.00am for full day guided Angkor exploration, start with the south gate of Angkor Thom atop 4 giant faces, stroll to explore Bayon temple consisting of more than 200 smiling faces in stone, admired by interesting temples including Baphuon, Phimeanakas, terrace of leper king, terrace of elephant & Ta Prohm temple adorned with the stunning tree roots where Lara Croft Tomb Raider was filmed.
After lunch, continue to witness the marvelous Angkor Wat – the world’s heritage listed by UNESCO in 1992 and the largest monument in the world. Unlock the amazing history, its ancestral incredible, architectural masterpieces and the finest carvings dates back to the Khmer Empire when it dominated the largest parts of Southeast Asia. On your way back to Siem Reap, enjoy the sunset from the top of the pyramid-shaped temple of Pre Rup.

Day 10 Tonle Sap Lake, Kompong Phluk | Flight to Phnom Penh

In the morning, a half day excursion to the biggest Southeast Asia’s largest fresh water lake—Tonle Sap Lake. You’ll take a boat trip to enjoy the beautiful lake views and mangrove forests. Spend rest of the morning at Kompong Phluk, the largest village on the lake, to discover the fascinating daily lifestyle of the local people who live on the water.
Take a short rest until transfer to airport for flight to Phnom Penh. Upon arrive, guide will meet at airport and escort you to hotel for check in and have a rest.

Day 11 Phnom Penh Highlight

Start the day with a TUK TUK ride to visit the Silver Pagoda which has 5,000 silver tiles on the floor and a visit to the Royal Palace where the Khmer royal family lives. You will also visit the National Museum where you will see the large collection of Khmer history, arts and architecture.
In the afternoon, head straight to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum to delve into the disturbing past of the country. Accompanied by your knowledgeable guide, browse poignant exhibitions then head to the verdant environs of the city to see the impressive Choueng Ek Memorial, a pagoda constructed out of 8,000 human skulls excavated from the Killing Fields.

Tipping:
Tipping is not compulsory, but it is recommended to tip the guide and driver who go with you at the end of the trip. The amount is up to you. If you find he is good, friendly, helpful and you are satisfied with his performance, give him more. If you find his performance is bad, give him less, even nothing. But again it is recommended to give him some to encourage his job and like lucky money in the New Year. The tips may ranges from 5 – 10USD/ day for a guide and from 2 – 5USD/ day for driver.
